So we are still getting used to the time difference on the tailend of our time here, but we finally got Ellie to bed at a decent hour and Evan is not currently melting down, so…
On Sunday, we took the bus to Hovedbanegården (Central Station) to get our Copenhagen card — a card that offers discounts on all the touristy things, includes all modes of transport (there are so many types of trains…), and automatically flags you as a tourist as you board the bus. Here is my motley crew having a snack next to the pidgeons that live in the station.
It was a short walk to the National Museet, which I think has a great collection of Viking and medieval cultural items. I’m not sure because we spent the whole time in the children’s section. The Danes don’t seem to have the same concerns about personal injury liability that we do in the States, so there were some really awesome things for Evan and Ellie to do — wooden sword fighting, hoisting bricks onto a tenuously constructed platform 6 feet off the ground, trying on medieval armor…
We were only able to drag the kids away because we were headed to Tivoli, an amazingly beautiful and surprisingly classy amusement park right in the middle if the city.
Ellie rode the carousel, Evan got to ride a roller coaster and drive a boat, and there were all kinds of Halloween themed events and spaces to look at. I We could have done two days there, it was so fun!
