We got a late start on this dreary Wednesday, but got to do some grown up museum stuff. The Statens Museum for Kunst has a collection that includes European works from 1300 to present. It was a difficult excursion with a rambunctious five-year-old and an overtired toddler but we managed to see a good amount — and have a fabulous lunch.
Greg and Evan made a neat craft in the children’s art studio.
And Evan and I played “I spy” in a gallery full of gigantic 17th-century paintings of naked people.
We were close enough to Torvehallerne to stop by an grab some souvenirs and snacks. And that’s when we had our food epiphany. There was a stall that sold prepared raw food that you just throw in the oven for twenty minutes — literally the ingredients were just chopped and put in a foil pan, but in fancy interesting combibations. We picked up duck with lentils and figs, and meatballs with baby potatoes, paying for two nights worth of dinner what we would probably pay for a single entree in a hellish restaurant experience. We were so happy to have great food cooked at home after the kids went to bed, with minimal effort and no cleanup — I wish we stocked up days ago!
Greg even picked up some beer from our corner 7-11. 🙂
